The Ghana Police Service has arrested six suspected members of an organised armed robbery syndicate accused of terrorising residents in parts of the Ashanti Region.

The suspects are Philip Nyarko, alias “Kawawa”; Hadi Samed, alias “Toronto”; Issahaku Musah, alias “Isak”; Suraj Mohammed, alias “Baba Nde” and “Trouble”; Hadi Abdul Majeed, alias “Panie”; and Foster Owusu Afriyie, alias “Joe Fraizer”.

According to the police, preliminary investigations have linked the suspects to several robbery incidents reported at Kaase, Ahinsan Estate, Santasi New Site, Bronikrom, Kwadaso Estate and other locations within the Ashanti Region.

The suspects were apprehended in a police operation aimed at clamping down on organised criminal activities and dismantling robbery networks operating across the region.

During the operation, the police recovered several items from the suspects, including weapons, motorbikes and 33 mobile phones.

The recovered items are being treated as exhibits as investigators work to establish their connection to the various robbery incidents and determine the extent of their alleged criminal activities.

The arrest is expected to provide investigators with vital leads into the activities of the alleged syndicate and help uncover other individuals who may be linked to the group.

The six suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations.

Police sources indicate that further action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigations, with the suspects expected to face the law if found culpable.

The arrests come as the police intensify efforts to clamp down on armed robbery and other organised criminal activities and safeguard residents across the region.

The police have also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and volunteer credible information that could assist in the fight against crime.
