Oseadeeyo Osagyefo The president of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Dormaahene, Dr. Nana Freduah Agyemang Badu II, has urged President John Dramani Mahama to look into the contentious National Cathedral project.
His comments come after the project’s financial management, namely the reported $58 million spent on its development, caused a great deal of public concern.
The Dormaahene emphasized the importance of fairness and openness in national administration while speaking on Friday, May 30, during Mahama’s “Thank You” visit.
“Don’t fear anyone in your pursuit of justice. If you are afraid and fail to do what is required, Your Excellency, it will not be beneficial,” he emphasized.
Even though he was unsure of all the project’s specifics, he maintained that the issue merited careful investigation.
“As for that pit—whether the individual is a priest, a chief, or someone else entirely—in relation to the National Cathedral and the $58 million. Even though I don’t fully get the situation, it needs to be looked at,” he said.
Regardless of who might be involved, he encouraged Mahama to guarantee responsibility and cautioned him against disregarding public uproar.
“Don’t be persuaded by anyone that it’s not worthwhile to look into. Ghanaians will be disappointed in you if you disregard it,” the traditional leader said.
