2026 WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS: Pitiless Ghana Demolish Central African Republic to Close in on Qualification

The Black Stars produced a sparkling outing to demolish Central African Republic 5-0 at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes in Morocco, moving to the verge of qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Jordan Ayew led-team looked sharp and focused from the beginning, dominating play and creating chances against a side scuffling to contain their attacking fluidity.

Ghana broke the deadlock after just 20 minutes when defender Mohammed Salisu rose highest to head home a perfectly delivered corner kick from Mohammed Kudus, giving the Black Stars an early and deserved lead.

The momentum continued into the second half, and within minutes of the restart, Thomas Partey doubled the advantage, finishing from close range after being teed up by Jordan Ayew.

The goal capped a commanding display from the Villareal midfielder, who dictated play throughout the evening.

The Black Stars continued to press forward with confidence, and in the 69th minute, Alexander Djiku made it 3-0, heading home Ayew’s precise cross.

The Leicester City forward then turned scorer just three minutes later, coolly slotting past the Central African Republic goalkeeper to make it four.

Substitute Kamaldeen Sulemana put the icing on the cake with a fine finish late in the game, registering his first international goal after a clever assist from Joseph Paintsil.

The emphatic victory leaves Ghana firmly in control of their destiny in Group I, with only one game left to play – a home clash against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Otto Addo’s side will now return home full of confidence, knowing that a positive result in front of their fans could officially seal qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

It was an evening to remember for the Black Stars, who combined discipline, creativity, and clinical finishing to underline their credentials as one of Africa’s elite footballing nations once again.
