2025 budget won’t introduce draconian taxes – Sammy Gyamfi

Sammy Gyamfi, the acting managing director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company, has reiterated President John Dramani Mahama’s vow to refrain from levying “draconian” taxes on Ghanaians.

Speaking before Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson presented the 2025 budget, Mr. Gyamfi called the upcoming budget a “budget of hope,” one that aims to ease existing challenges rather than add to them.

He promised Ghanaians that the 2025 budget would show the NDC government’s commitment to restarting the nation’s economy and would prioritize the development of jobs for all citizens, regardless of political membership.

His comments precede the highly anticipated budget presentation on Tuesday, March 11, when stakeholders predict that the NDC administration will keep its pledge to eliminate taxes like the COVID-19 levy, E-Levy, and betting tax.

“…I can tell you that this budget will not introduce any draconian taxes like they did when they were in government. This budget is a budget of hope. It is a budget that will ease hardships and not impose hardship on them.

“It is a budget that will be creating jobs, not collapsing them like they did. We do not have to speculate at all,” he stated.
