2024 US Elections most divisive, vitriolic in history – Patsy Widakuswara

Voice of America (VOA) White House Bureau Chief Patsy Widakuswara has expressed worries about the impending US elections in 2024, which are scheduled for Tuesday, November 5.

Widakuswara underlined the concerning degrees of division, rivalry, and weakness that set this election apart from others in an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV’s The Point of View.

With polls showing a close contest between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, the 2024 US presidential election is undoubtedly going to be a very controversial and closely watched event.

“…Donald Trump was indicted with 34 counts of felony and Joe Biden dropped out of the race, Kamala Harris drove a whirlwind campaign in about three and half months and we have a situation which is really down to the wire, it is +1% or -1%.”

She observed that there seems to be apprehension among US citizens and people living in the US about post-election violence.

“There’s really a huge concern about post-election disturbance… That is the level of anxiety and concern people are facing right now, certainly being faced by voters, analysts.”

She stated that there are notable disparities in the priorities of Trump supporters and Harris, and that the economy, immigration, and abortion are among of the main topics influencing voter choices.

Experts share Widakuswara’s worries about the election’s polarising nature, citing the possibility of voting disputes, electoral violence, and hacking issues.

Tensions are running high as the election gets underway on Tuesday, and the result is still up in the air.
