The People’s National Convention (PNC) has chosen Bernard Anbataayela Mornah to lead it in the 2024 election.
In the two-horse race, he received 1,138 votes to Apasera’s 216, defeating Apasera, who headed the PNC to Election 2020.
The Electoral Commission (EC) oversaw the nation’s first decentralised congress, which was held on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
The Greater Accra election was first in danger because to the 490 delegates’ “no money, no vote” shout. They demanded that their allowances and transport costs be paid before the polls began, fearing that they would be underpaid.
They had to be comforted and reassured by a few prominent party members before they reversed their choice.
The voting procedure was prolonged into the evening due to the chant and the EC officers’ tardiness.
Chief Executive Officer of Gateway Savanah Ltd. and managing partner of Ndaana Ghana Ltd., Mornah inspired Ghanaians, particularly the younger generation, to support ending the dominance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the nation’s political arena.
“Our plight is the same, hence our fight must be the same,” he told Congress after being declared winner.
He said the fight was to restore confidence in the Ghanaian people that they could build Ghana together and free it from the hands of NDC and NPP, who he described as internal enemies and the external enemies who do not want the country to prosper.
“Let us celebrate tonight in modesty and get to work tomorrow. Ghana needs a new leader in the person of Bernard Mornah. Bernard Mornah offers a new direction for all Ghanaians,” he said.
