The senior pastor of Alabaster International Ministries, Prophet Kofi Oduro, has taken issue with the idea that obtaining a Ph.D. and obtaining a foreign a passport are equivalent.

He thinks it is unreasonable for individuals to debate the benefits of a PhD vs a foreign passport, particularly while other people are concentrating on coming up with fresh ideas to improve society.

The pastor argues that this kind of discussion is essentially inaccurate since it has no influence on a person’s salvation or significance in death.

Prophet Oduro denounced as “nonsense” the social media debates surrounding passports and PhDs when addressing his audience.

“Being a Dutch citizen does not relieve you from the requirement for education. It undermines the importance of education. We are squandering time on pointless arguments while others are studying artificial intelligence and other subjects.

“What importance does an American or British passport really hold? It’s all vanity, and I don’t care about your opinions. When Ebony passed away, she didn’t take her visa-filled passport with her. I’ve lived abroad and know how things work. There are opportunities, but it’s not as easy as it seems,” he exclaimed.

The debate intensified after Prof. Kobby Mensah, a lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School, remarked that a PhD is not suitable for those in urgent need of a job.

“A PhD is not for the hungry. It’s not for securing employment or for entrepreneurship. Understand that!” the lecturer wrote on X.

Various celebrities, including John Dumelo, Sista Afia, Efia Odo, Wayoosi, and Nana Yaa Brefo, have also weighed in on the debate.
